¡¡¡¡BEIJING, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Japan-U.S. alliance should maintain its bilateral nature rather than expand to undermine any third party's interests, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said Wednesday.
¡¡¡¡Hong made the remarks when asked to comment on the ongoing revision of defense cooperation guidelines between Japan and the United States at a daily press briefing.
¡¡¡¡The revised guidelines are scheduled to come out Wednesday.
¡¡¡¡"The Japan-U.S. alliance is a bilateral arrangement made under special historical conditions. It should not go beyond its bilateral scope or undermine third parties' interests, including China's," Hong said.
¡¡¡¡"We will closely follow the revision of the Japan-U.S. defense cooperation guidelines," he said.
