Overnight rescue operation has lifted 96 people out of danger in seawaters off east China's Shandong Province, the local maritime bureau said early yesterday.

High wind stranded a passenger ship and caused four unpowered engineering boats, with a total of 96 people, to go adrift close to Dongying Port on the Bohai Sea on Monday afternoon, the Shandong Provincial Maritime Bureau reported.
