DOHA, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Chen Qing, winning her first cap for the Chinese women's table tennis team, played some flawless game in her debut at the Doha Asian Games on Wednesday morning.
"I can barely feel a thing since the rival side is too weak," said Chen, a native of eastern Chinese Shandong province, after she crushed her opponent in straight sets to help China win 3-0 over Kuwait.
The defensive player, who followed Wang Nan to play second singles in China's opening match, beat Dalal Alhammad 11-2, 11-3, 11-0.
Her teammate Wang Nan, regarded as one of the living legends in the sport, gave thumbs up to the 22-year-old paddler who completed her first match on the international stage.
"It's a brilliant performance from an Asiad rookie like Chen, though the opening set saw her feeling her nerve a little bit," said Wang, a "grand slam" winner of Olympics, world championships and World Cup.
China, all-time leader in the world table tennis, which has won six team titles in the Asian Games, will play Vietnam Wednesday afternoon, before facing the last and toughest rival of Group B - Hong Kong of China on Thursday. |
