Drawing on the first-aid education he had received at school, a 10-year-old boy in Shandong Province rescued his gas-poisoned grandmother last Wednesday.
The boy, Bo Yu, returned home at 6 pm and was surprised when nobody answered the door. He searched for his grandmother, but failed to find her anywhere. Suspecting that something bad might have happened, Bo climbed over the wall and entered the yard. Through the window, he saw his grandmother lying on the bed unconscious. Bo broke the window with his hands, opened the door and called the 120 emergency hotline. An ambulance arrived soon thereafter to take the woman to hospital. Doctors determined that the woman had been poisoned by a gas leak. Bo's father visited his son's school on Thursday to thank it for providing first-aid education. |
