Chinese Super League powerhouse Shandong Luneng drew with Australia's Adelaide United 2-2 in Group G of the AFC Champions League on Wednesday.
Adelaide's midfielder Fernando Rech got a one to one situation in the first half, and Luneng's goalkeeper Li Leilei fouled in the box to block his shot. Adelaide got a penalty kick and scored successfully.
Midfielder Li Wei made a clear shot from the right one minute later after 37 minutes to make it 1-1.
Adelaide scored another soon after the second half began by forward Nathan Burns, but Shandong leveled seven minutes later by Shu Chang.
Shandong could have won the game, but they squandered several clear chances.
Shandong could have qualified for the last eight if they won this match, but now they have to face Senongnam Ilhwa Chunma in South Korea later, who beat Long An 2-1 in the day's another match.
Now Shandong have acquired thirteen points while Senongnam Ilhwa Chunma have ten.
