JINAN, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Li Yuanchao, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, has called on officials and Party members to improve their work style by closely contacting and serving the people at the grassroots level.

　　The people are the base and power of the Party and the current campaign for officials and Party members to become role models must focus on serving the people, said Li, who is also head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, during a two-day tour in east Shandong Province.

　　From Dec. 3 to 4, Li visited villages and companies in Yinan County, which was a revolutionary base before the founding in 1949 of the People's Republic of China, to ascertain what local officials and Party members have done to develop the local economy and enrich locals over the past decades.

　　"Today's prosperous socialist cause could never have existed without the brave sacrifices and selfless devotion of the people of the old revolutionary bases," he said.
