  Delegation of Dutch Leiden University Visits SDU  

  

 

  On April 30th, a delegation led by Vice-rector of Dutch Leiden University Simone Buitendijk paid a visit to Shandong University. SDU Vice-president Lou Hongxiang welcomed the guests and had a talk with them.
   
  During the meeting, Lou briefly introduced SDU and its cooperation with Leiden University in the fields of student exchange, scientific research and Confucius Institute. 
   
  Lou stated that, Leiden University enjoys an outstanding international reputation, has a long academic history of strong scientific research, and is a sinology research center in Europe. He also sincerely hopes that SDU would engage in more extensive exchange and cooperation with Leiden University in the fields of history, archaeology, and China Studies. 
   
  Professor Buitendijk thanked SDU for its warm reputation and introduced Leiden University, including the planning projects of Asian studies, European studies, and the field of medicine, as well as sending postgraduates majoring in Sinology studies to SDU with a one-year Chinese studies program. She also was willing to push the projects to start as soon as possible.

  The delegation and the related schools of SDU had a talk about student exchange, double degree program, and the details of organizing seminars jointly.  After that, the delegates also visited the Confucius Institute Office, Chinese Traditional Experience Hall, and had a talk with the Leiden University’s students studying in SDU.

  Professor Hilde De Weerdt, from Leiden University’s Department of History,  and Elke Spiessens, an official of Leiden University, as well as the SDU’s representatives from International Affairs Department, School of Economics, School of Political Science and Public Administration, School of History and Culture, School of Medicine, College of International Education and Classical Literature Research Institute, attended the meeting. Professor Weerdt also delivered a lecture for the teachers and students from the Advanced Institute of Confucian Studies of SDU.
