The Internet Media's Shandong Web Tour kicked off Friday in the costal city of Qingdao, with a theme to promote the culture industry of Eastern China's Shandong Province.

The Web Tour of Shangdong launched in the coastal city of Qingdao, June 9th.

Journalists from more than 60 major news websites across the country attended the opening ceremony of the promotion campaign. The web tour was held prior to the Shandong International Culture Industry Fair (SDICIF) which will be open on June 16th.

"We are striving to introduce our time-honored history and culture, achievement in boosting the culture industry and effort to build a powerful cultural province through the web platform to the whole country and the world", Wang Min, minister of Propaganda of Shandong province said in the speech.

Wei Zhengxin, leader of Information Office of State Council, Wang Wenhua, Vice Secretary of the municipal party committee of Qingdao, and other officials from the provincial government also attended the ceremony.

Supervised by Information Office of State Council, the nine-day event was co-hosted by the organizing committee of SDICIF, Provincial Department of Propaganda and dzwww.com.

The yearly web tour has been held since 2004, which has shown the great potential and influence of web media in promoting Shandong Province. The web reporters will present a truthful, comprehensive coverage of the provincial culture industry during the tour.

After visiting Qingdao, the host city of the 29th Olympic Sailing Regatta, reporters will travel to the other cultural and historical cities including Zibo, Linyi, Tai'an, Qufu, and Jinan.
