Shandong International Culture Industry Fair (SDICIF) opened Friday in the capital city of Jinan in an effort to invite bid and draw investment.

The mascot of the fair is a pig-tailed "Da Man", or big girl. She wears bight-colored clothes and embroidered shoes typical of Shandong province.

The logo of SDICIF features one mountain, one sage, and one river of the province. The mountain refers to the renowned Mt. Tai, to which 72 Chinese emperors of various dynasties made pilgrimages. Confucius is also compared to Mt. Tai in view of his sacred status in Chinese culture. The yellow strip refers to the Yellow River which has nurtured a brilliant civilization and the rainbow strips is the ancient totem of phenix.
