About 400 enterprises from home and abroad were represented at the 2006 China International Consumer Electronics Show which opened in Qingdao, a port city of east China's Shandong Province, on Friday.
Their exhibits included home theater and entertainment facilities, household electrical appliances, and mobile telecommunications equipment.
In the next four days, representatives of consumer electronics manufacturers and information industry businesses will participate in a forum on the development of the consumer electronics industry and a forum on the development of Internet protocol television to exchange views on challenges and development trends facing the consumer electronics industry.
Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, sent a congratulatory letter to the event.
Zeng said that fast development of the electronics industry in recent years had boosted economic development and enriched people's lives.
The show provided a platform for exchanges and cooperation for electronics industry enterprises around the globe, Zeng said.
He hoped the exhibition would promote international technological cooperation among businesses and boost the development and prosperity of the electronics industry.
The event is jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Information Industry, the Ministry of Science and Technology and Shandong Provincial People's Government. |
