Forestry fair set for Shandong Heze

China Forestry Products Fair 2006 will run between September 19-22 in Heze of East China's Shandong Province, China's largest base for producing, processing, trading and exporting forest products in its plain regions, Gao Qingyao, spokesman for the State Forestry Administration (SFA), announced in Beijing.

The fair will be jointly sponsored by the provincial government of Shandong and SFA, China's top forestry authority.

As the only economic business fair of its type approved by SFA in China, the fair, held every September, will showcase the latest development of China's forestry industry and the reform it has made for sustainable development in the future.

The fair will provide 10 major trading sections, with nearly 1,000 international-standard booths.

With its exhibition area covering about 40,000 square meters, the fair will display wood products, wood by-products, agricultural products in forestry zones, nursery stock and flowers and plants, wood handicrafts, bamboo ware, works of art, forestry food, forestry chemical products, forestry machinery and forestry science and technology.

A large number of domestic and international production and processing enterprises have been invited to the fair.

In addition to displaying the achievements and products of China's agricultural technology, the fair will also arrange a series of forestry-related seminars, investment and trade talks.

With the sector's competitive strength being improved in overseas markets, officials from SFA were confident that the fair will help the country build up a national platform for the forestry industry to exchange information, trade products and attract overseas capital.
